Health Education Foundation hands out $32650 in scholarships
CHICO — Students attending Butte College, Chico State University, Enloe Medical Center and UC Davis received scholarships from the North Valley Health Education Foundation at its annual scholarship awards dinner May 5, held at Enloe Conference Center.The Foundation gave out $32,650 in scholarships for the 2011-12 school year.
Local scholarship recipients included: Erin Parisio, an Enloe employee; Mollie Graedel, an Enloe Junior Volunteer; Lisa Morales an Enloe employee; Francesca LeBreton, Chico State University; Steve Murphy, Chico State University; Kira Willman, Enloe Jr. Volunteer; Griselda Perez, Chico State; Dani Salomon, Enloe Jr. Volunteer; Kaleena Hans, Butte College; Nancy Buegeler, Chico State; and Amber Schmitt, Butte College.
Movies in the Park starts with "Willy Wonka"
CHICO — The seventh annual Movies in the Park put on by Chico Area Recreation District will start with a showing of "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" on June 18.
The 1971 classic will begin about 15 minutes after sunset on Sycamore Field in Bidwell Park. Refreshments will be available for sale. People are asked to bring blankets and low-backed chairs.
The free movies are shown the third Saturday of the summer months. Upcoming movies are "Field of Dreams," July 16; "Nanny McPhee," Aug. 20; and "Second Hand Lions," Sept. 17.
Cohasset community host giant yard sale June 18
COHASSET — A yard sale will be put on June 18 by the Cohasset Community Association.
The sale, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. will take place at the Cohasset Community Association, corner of Cohasset Road and Maple Creek Ranch Road.
People may bring a picnic lunch and sit under the tall pines. Funds raised will help keep the association's doors open.
CHICO — Youngsters in fourth through sixth grades who sign up for Gateway Discovery Camp this summer will get a chance to explore the green canyons of Butte Creek Ecological Preserve during a field planned during each session .
The week-long day camps will encourage kids to be young scientists as they explore the ecosystem of the preserve. Field trips are planned on Fridays during the three sessions of Discovery Camp.
Sessions are:
Green Detectives, June 20 to 24;
Green Detectives, Girls Only Camp, July 11 to 15.

yeah everything sounds really nice doesn’t it but not everyone knows that keiko died of pneumonia. When they ran out of funding money Keiko was just dumped and left in the ocean. He wasn’t ready, he did not know how to be a whale,i he was taken from his family when he was just a baby whale. He tried to make contact with people on boats.Died alone and sad.
