US Army Corps of Engineers begin debris removal from Neely Henry Lake

Waterway Debris Removal teams with the Army Corps. of Engineers and a group of local contractors began the task of removing tornado debris from the waters, coves and shoreline of Neely Henry Lake in St. Clair and Calhoun Counties Thursday June 23, 2011. Over 5,000 cubic yards of debris ranging from construction materials to trees and brush to pieces of boats and personal items will be removed by teams operating a debris removal barge and support vessels according to Wes Trammell, Waterway Debris Mission Manager with the Army Corps of Engineers. Clean up should be complete by the end of July. Trammell also said that debris removal operations will be halted over the July 4th holiday weekend.
